Our AGM will be on Sunday, November 24 at 12:30 pm in the Sanctuary, preceded by the youth’s fundraiser lunch in the gymnasium.
Board Elections
Three board positions will be elected from the five nominees whose short bios are featured below.
Rob Baskin
We started attending Evangel in 1990. I am retired after 20 years as founding director of Bridges to New Life (prison ministry) on Dec 31, 2018. Prior to that, I worked for 20 years in the construction industry and also briefly in financial services.
For those who have missed our presence on Sunday mornings, since retiring Brenda and I have been attending Evangel’s early service.
I have been married to Brenda for 43 years. Together we have two sons, Jason/1975 and Dallas/1978 as well as two lovely granddaughters.
Prior to running Bridges to New Life and the local Prison Fellowship team, I once taught Sunday school to teens at Evangel.
One of my favorite verses is James 1:27 “Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
As the forces of evil grow ever stronger, I believe it is ever more important for the Church to stand strong as a light in the darkness and a voice for the oppressed.
If elected to Evangel’s board, I don’t have an agenda, but would hope to be used by the Holy Spirit in whatever way He sees fit.

Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself. I have attended Evangel Church since August 2018, and we entered into church membership in May 2019. It has been a wonderful year worshiping Jesus with you all, sitting under great teaching and getting to know many of you through our Tuesday night Connect Group.
I am self-employed as an Electrical Contractor in Kelowna. For the last twelve years I have been married to my wonderful wife, Paige, and the Lord has blessed us with two lovely daughters, Raielle (11) and Emily (9).
One of my favourite scripture verses is James 5:16. In seeking to become obedient to this teaching, I have humbly learned to be vulnerable with others in confessing my sins rather than pridefully hiding them. This practice has led to life-changing healing in many areas of my life, transformed my marriage and engaged me into a closer relationship to my Lord Jesus.
If elected to the Board of Deacons, I would seek to preserve and deepen the sense of unity and oneness in our church body. I will humbly endeavour to represent the needs of the body to the leadership. I would love for our reputation in this city and beyond to be that of compassionate people who are encouraging, hopeful, and passionate for God.
Wes Quist
My family and I have been attending Evangel Church for 9 years.
I work in retail technical repair.
Berni and I have been married for 13 years and we have one child , Joshua, who is 16.
I am an active member on the worship team.
I also help out as much as possible in the kitchen and volunteer with other things around the church.
I love Isaiah 41:10, which says, “Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand..”
If elected to the board, may God use me in any capacity that He wishes. My prayer for the church is for a continuous powerful Spiritual awakening, a passion for Christ that is not extinguishable and a heart that is open to anything God wants of us, no matter the cost.
Allison Scuffi
My husband Darren and I have been married for 22 years . We moved to Kelowna 20 years ago and we have two daughters, Morgan who is 17 and Dakota who is 16.
I work for Premium Comfort Heating and Air Conditioning as their Business Manager. I have called Evangel home since arriving in 1999 and have volunteered with Young Adult leadership, Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Mom’s groups, and Connex-ions Coffee Shop over the years.
My desire for our church family and the board is to continue being servants to one another, our local community, and global missions. With Evangel’s di-verse ministries, I pray we never stop being Christ’s hands.
I love Psalm 139 and how it speaks of God’s great love for us. From being fearfully and wonderfully made to His all-encompassing, ever-pursuing love and care for us: it reaffirms what an amazing Father we serve.
Don Wilkinson
I am a lawyer by occupation. I am married to Dawn and we have four adult children. They are: Ashley, who is 36, Adam, who is 33, April, who is 31 and Ainsley, who is 29. We also have 2 grandchildren and we are ex-pecting a little granddaughter at the end of this coming January.
My involvement at Evangel is that I have been on the church board for a number of years and for the last 11 years I have been involved in leadership with the Ecclesia Sunday morning service.
I hope to be able to use what talents and abilities that I have to further the spiritual growth and direction of Evangel.
In light of what is going on in the world today, I would like to encourage more members to become involved politically and socially from a theological perspective.
A favorite verse of mine is Lamentations 3:21-24: 21 But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: 22 The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; 23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 24 “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him.”
